Position Description
The Construction Project Manager oversees and manages projects, and is responsible for planning, monitoring projects.
The CPM is responsible for co-ordination and completion of the projects and will perform a variety of tasks including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring, and summarizing progress of the projects, setting, and following budgets, making HR decisions, and other project management-related tasks.
Position Requirements
Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Ten years of senior-level management experience on construction programs projects in sub-Saharan Africa or other post-conflict countries (Senior-Level Management experience shall be defined as the senior-most or second most-senior project management official on the ground for a given project; examples of such titles/roles are: Project Manager, Deputy Project Manager, Program Manager (in-country only), Deputy Program Manager (in-country only), Construction Manager, or Country Manager positions).
Project must have been $10 million or greater in value.
Ten years of construction experience focusing on vertical construction.
At least 5 years of experience on vertical construction must be overseas in either sub-Saharan Africa or other post-conflict countries as listed above.
Construction experience can be military or civilian.
Candidate must have the ability to analyze complex financial data and extract and define relevant information. Candidate must have excellent supervisory, organizational, and training skills, skill in project development and execution, skill in coordinating activities, evaluating data, and establishing priorities. Excellent communication in both written and verbal English is necessary, and must be proficient in Word, MS Office suite of programs.
Candidate must be able to analyze problems and make well-reasoned, sound decisions. Candidate must be highly capable of interacting confidently with senior management and customers. Candidate should have management experience with and a demonstrated history of managing direct reports within a large organization.
Extensive travel throughout Africa required and will need to spend time on remote construction sites.
