The Material Take-off Officer – Electrical is responsible for extracting and quantifying all electrical materials and components from engineering drawings and specifications.
This role supports accurate cost estimation, procurement planning, and on-site implementation.

Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Material Takeoff
Analyze and interpret electrical design drawings, schematics, and specifications (LV, MV, HV systems). Prepare detailed material takeoff sheets for electrical systems including:
Conduits, trunking, cable traysPower and control cablesLighting fixturesSwitchgear, panels, distribution boardsSockets, switches, sensors, and terminationsFire alarms, CCTV, access control, data and communication systemsMeasure and record quantities in line with the relevant codes and project requirements. Coordination & Review
Coordinate with design and engineering teams to clarify any discrepancies or design ambiguities.Work closely with procurement to provide quantity breakdowns for vendor sourcing and tender evaluation.Collaborate with site engineers and subcontractors to validate quantities and resolve mismatches between drawings and on-site conditions. Documentation & Reporting
Prepare comprehensive takeoff reports with technical descriptions and unit breakdowns.Maintain a central database for all electrical material quantities.Track revisions in drawings and update material takeoffs accordingly to reflect changes. Estimation & Cost Planning Support
Provide material quantities for use in cost estimation and budgeting.Support the QS/Estimating team in developing Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and Cost Schedules.Contribute to value engineering by proposing material alternatives based on availability, cost, and performance. Quality, Compliance & Safety
Ensure material takeoffs comply with project technical specifications, codes (e.g., IEC, NEC), and local authority standards.Support QA/QC processes by aligning quantities with approved shop drawings.Promote sustainable and cost-effective material usage through accurate planning. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.Certification or membership with a recognized professional body (e.g., EBK, IEK, IET, IEEE) is an advantage. Experience:
Minimum Four years of relevant experience in electrical takeoff roles within the engineering and construction industry.Strong knowledge of building services and infrastructure projects (commercial, residential, industrial).
