Job Title: Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning intern

Location: Nairobi Kenya, Travel to project implementation areas

Job Type: Internship (possibility of retention)

Purpose

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Intern to support our data-driven approach to impact.

This role is central to collecting, verifying, and analyzing data on project beneficiaries, ensuring that our programs are both effective and accountable.

The ideal candidate is not only technically capable but also deeply committed to learning, collaboration, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect primary data from field teams, project beneficiaries, and partners.
  • Validate and clean data before it enters project databases.
  • Maintain up-to-date MEL tools and trackers.
  • Conduct spot checks and field visits to verify reported results.
  • Support preparation of quarterly and annual MEL reports for projects.
  • Train field staff on data collection protocols.
  • Liaise with project team MEL focal points to align on indicators and reporting templates.
  • Flag any data quality or reporting gaps early.
  • Work closely with the Cold Storage Unit division to capture and verify beneficiary data related to storage services and activities.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Diploma/Degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, or related field.
  • 0-2 years MEL experience, preferably in agriculture.
  • Strong data analysis skills (Excel, Kobo Toolbox, Google Sheets, or Power BI).
  • Experience with donor reporting requirements.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
