Regional Program Assistant, Research and Development Unit
The Regional Program Assistant, Research and Development Unit contributes to the impact of Nutrition International’s (NI) work on research and development in Africa and globally through provision of efficient support services to the staff of the Research and Development Unit (R&D) mainly in areas of legal, finance, and administration.
Approximately 75% of the level of effort will be dedicated to supporting R&D-led projects being conducted in Africa and 25% to R&D work being conducted globally, but the assigned level of effort may be modified from time to time
Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing all necessary documentation related to activities, including grant agreements, contracts, purchase orders, travel letters, budget reallocations, project extensions and/or supplements, project completion reports, payment requisitions and regular project updates and project summaries.Assist R&D Unit staff with the management and tracking of budgets, milestones, reports to ensure that all obligations are met by the recipient and NI.Undertake day-to-day R&D-led projects administrative responsibilities such as determining funds available to project, preparing project estimated costs in consultation with the Regional Technical Advisor, the Director, Research, Innovation, and Evaluation and/or the Vice President, Research & Development and Chief Technical Advisor of the Research and Development Unit.Monitor project budget expenditure and alert R&D Unit staff, as required.Coordinate and arrange travel itineraries, flights, accommodation, airport transport, visas, travel authorizations, documentation folders and prepare expense statements for R&D staff, consultants as well as for participants of workshops organized by R&D Unit staff and for R&D Unit visitors.Assist with the organization and logistics for meetings and workshops for R&D-led projects.Complete expense claims report for R&D Unit staff. About You;
You have;
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or other related field from a recognized university or an acceptable combination of education and experience.5 years experience working in an office environment in a similar position.3 years experience working in program management environment.Ability to plan and organize work to meet deadlinesAbility to adapt to new situations within the organization (flexibility)Ability to work under pressureExcellent interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.Proficiency in English is essential; familiarity with French will be considered an asset.
