Machakos County, nicknamed ‘Macha,’ was the first capital city of Kenya and is now an administrative county in Kenya.

Machakos is made up of eight constituencies including Machakos Town, Mavoko, Masinga, Yatta, Kangundo, Kathiani, Matungulu, and Mwala.

Machakos Town is the administrative capital of the County.


Administration Officer II

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning of office accommodation and layout;

  • Facilitating transport and travelling services;

  • Maintaining and updating furniture and office equipment inventory,

  • Ensuring payment of bills,

  • Facilitating movement of assets;

  • Carrying out general maintenance of buildings and furniture; and

  • Facilitating logistics for meetings, conferences and other special events

  • Collecting and collating data on developmental activities;

  • providing input in the monitoring and evaluating of community projects;

  • Providing input in organizing public participation awareness at the local

  • disseminating information to the Public;
  • Qualifications:


    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: – Public Administration; Business Administration/Management, Community Development or any other Social Science from a recognized institution
  • OR

  • Diploma in any of the following disciplines: – Public Administration; Business Administration/Management, Community Development or any other Social Science from a recognized institution

  • Served as an Administration Officer III Three years’ experience

  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution;

  • Certify chapter six of the constitution
  • Public Communications Officer II

    Key Responsibilities

  • Gathering information on the existing programmes, significant events and the impact on customers and

  • forwarding the information to the head of department for dissemination.

  • Work will further entail liaising with media practitioners

  • liaising with the public on issues of mutual concern under the guidance of a senior officer.
  • Requirements:

  • Possess a Bachelor degree in any of the following discipline: Journalism, Mass Communication, International Relations, Communication Studies, Public Relations and Social Sciences from a recognized institution

  • Possess good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili

  • Proficient in computer application
  • OR

  • Have a diploma in any of the following discipline: Journalism, Mass Communication, International Relations, Communication Studies, Public Relations or any other approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution; and

  • Served as a Public Communications officer III for minimum of 3 years

  • Possess good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili

  • Proficient in computer application.
  • Information Communication Technology Officer III

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Writing and testing simple computer programs according to instructions and specifications;

  • Assisting in the implementation of the computer systems;

  • Providing user support and training of users;

  • Repairs and maintenance of ICT equipment and associated peripherals

  • Monitoring the performance of ICT equipment; and reporting any faults for further action.
  • Qualifications:


    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have

  •  Have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade C plain with at least a C- in mathematics and English /Kiswahili or its approved equivalent

  • Diploma in any of the following fields: Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic engineering or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Information Communication Technology Officer II

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing, designing, coding.

    testing, implementing computer programs

  • Providing user support;

  • Maintaining support systems and training of users;

  • Repairing and maintaining of Information Communication Technology equipment and associated peripherals;

  • Receiving.

    installing and certifying of Information Communication Technology equipment;

  • Configuring of new Information Communication Technology equipment.
  • Qualifications:


    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have

  • Bachelor degree in any of the following: Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Commerce, Physics or any other ICT related discipline with a bias in information communication technology from a recognized institution.
  • OR

  •  Higher Diploma in Computer Science/ Information Technology or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • OR

  •  Diploma in any of the following fields: Computer Science/Information Communication Technology, Electrical/Electronic engineering or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

  • Served as an Information Communication Technology officer III for minimum of 3 years.
  • Public Communications Officer III (Sign Language Interpreter)

    Key Responsibilities

  • Performing a wide variety of Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) interpretation in a variety of settings which includes all departments, staff meetings, field trips, workshops, trainings, seminars, conferences, and events, and other organizational settings;

  • Obtaining and reviewing the material containing the information to be interpreted and

  • Conduct research on technical information or complex information to gain an understanding of what will be interpreted;
  • Requirements:


    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have

  • Diploma in the following disciplines; Communications, Sociology, Deaf Studies, Linguistics, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and Certification from a recognized interpreter certification
  • Public Communications Officer III

    Key Responsibilities

  • Information gathering on topical issues within the Department,

  • Verifying its authenticity, editing and dispatching the information for dissemination to the public and media under the guidance of a senior officer.
  • Requirements:


    For appointment to this grade, an officer must;

  • Have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade C plain with at least a C+ English and Kiswahili and C in any other relevant subjects or its approved equivalent

  • Have a diploma in any of the following discipline: Journalism, Mass Communication, international Relations, Communication Studies, Public Relations or any other approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution; and

  • Be Proficient in computer application.
  • Director Administration

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Initiating, interpreting, implementing, and reviewing administrative strategies, procedures and programme:

  • Coordinating, managing and supervising the general administrative function in the department

  • Coordinating public service reforms:

  • Overseeing service delivering in the department;

  • Overseeing development of programmes and projects to empower to empower the community

  • Coordinating and facilitating citizen participation in the development of policies plans and delivery of services,

  • Overseeing state custody of county government assets;

  • Coordinating and liaising with other directorates and department in the County

  • Ensuring compliance with legal, statutory and regulatory requirement

  • Ensuring compliance with national values and principles of good governance

  • In addition, the Director will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of the departmental strategic plan;

  • Ensuring the review of departmental annual work plans and budgets:

  • Ensuring compliance with principles and values of departmental assets and finances; and overall management and development of staff
  • Qualifications:


    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have

  • 18 years of experience in public service

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: – Public Administration; Business Administration/Management, Community Development or any other Social Science from a recognized institution;

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implementing, reviewing and interpreting administrative policies, strategies, procedures and programme;

  • In managing and supervising the general administration services,

  • Planning and coordinating office accommodation;

  • Managing county government assets,

  • Ensuring service delivering in the area of jurisdiction.

  • 15 years of experience in public service
