The Maa Trust is a non-profit organization working together with community-owned wildlife conservancies in the Maasai Mara, Kenya.
We work to increase the benefits of wildlife and conservation to Maasai families so that they appreciate and contribute to the protection of wild animals on their land.
Intern Health
Key roles and responsibilities:
Program Support and ImplementationAssist in preparing and reviewing ICHP work plans and budgets in collaboration with the Health team.Participate in the implementation of community-based health activities in alignment with The Maa Trust’s strategic goals.Support monthly meetings with Community Health Mobilizers (CHMs) and peer mentor review sessions.Contribute to the compilation of monthly and quarterly activity reports.Provide logistical support for planning health-related forums and training events.Follow up on activity timelines to ensure timely execution of program components.Stakeholder and Partnership EngagementSupport communication and coordination with CHMS, CHVs, local leaders, and partner organizations.Participate in community barazas, women’s forums, and youth dialogues.Assist in organizing stakeholder meetings and feedback sessions.Help build collaborative relationships with local health facilities and government agencies.Capacity Building and Health EducationParticipate in SRH outreach events targeting youth, men, and women.Assist in preparing educational materials and co-facilitating community learning sessions.Advocate for positive health behaviors and the rights to SRH services during outreach events.Other DutiesCarry out additional tasks assigned by the Health Coordinator or Health and WASH Manager in line with program needs. The Bead-work Artisan at The Maa Bead-work will be responsible for creating high-quality, culturally authentic beadwork products that reflect Maasai heritage while supporting sustainable livelihoods, preserving indigenous craftsmanship,andcontributing to women’s economic empowerment through artisan employment.
Key roles and responsibilities:
Produce bead-work items such as jewelry, home decor, and fashion accessories according to provided designs, qualitystandards, and production timelines.Participate in the co-creation of new product designs with the product development team and give cultural inputonpatterns and symbolism.Maintain consistency and precision in bead arrangement, stitching, color coordination, and finishing.Handle bead-work tools and materials responsibly, ensuring minimal waste and proper storage.Participate in artisan training sessions to improve quality, efficiency, and new techniques.Uphold traditional Maasai bead-work standards while adapting to contemporary designs.Collaborate with fellow artisans and supervisors to meet daily and weekly production targets.Ensure products are clean, finished, and ready for quality inspection and packaging.Maintain a clean and organized workspace at all times. The Communications Intern will support storytelling, media content creation, and documentationforourcommunity development initiatives.
This role is ideal for a recent graduate in Communications, Journalism,Public Relations, or a related field who is eager to grow in a purpose-driven environment.
The intern will contribute by writing and editing stories, capturing photos and videos, and assistingwithvisualcontent for donor reports, social media, and internal documentation. Key roles and responsibilities:

HR Administration and Records Management
Maintain up-to-date and organized employee files (physical and digital) in line with policy and legal requirements.Support recruitment processes by posting adverts, scheduling interviews, contacting candidates, andpreparingrecruitment documentation.

The Education Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of the Education Programme at The Maa Trust (TMT).
The incumbent will support the design and delivery of inclusive, high-quality, childcentered educational projects.
This role also ensures mainstreaming of child protection and gender components in all education project initiatives while fostering strong collaborations with community and school stakeholders. Key roles and responsibilities:

This role is intended to provide learning opportunities while contributing meaningfully to activities that promote the safety, rights, and well-being of children and adolescents in the Maasai Maraecosystem. Key roles and responsibilities:

The Beadwork Leather Artisan at The Maa Beadwork will be responsible for designing and handcrafting high-quality bead-embellished leather products that celebrate Maasai culture while supporting sustainable livelihoods.
The role combines traditional beadwork with skilled leather craftsmanship, contributing to the empowerment of women artisans and thepreservation of indigenous artistry within a social enterprise model. Key roles and responsibilities:
Craft leather products, integrating bead-work patterns as per design specifications.Cut, stitch, and assemble leather components using hand tools or light machinery.Apply traditional Maasai bead-work to leather items with precision, accuracy, and cultural symbolism.Follow production guidelines, quality standards, and design templates to ensure product consistency.Participate in co-design sessions to incorporate new techniques, materials, and market trends.Handle materials responsibly—leather, beads, adhesives, and tools—ensuring minimal waste.Perform quality checks and refinements on finished products.Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment.Take part in regular training to enhance bead-work and leather-working skills.Support peer artisans and promote teamwork and shared craftsmanship. The Data Management Intern will support the DQI Department in strengthening The Maa Trust’s data systems, ensuringquality data collection, entry, cleaning, storage, analysis, and visualization aligned with The Maa Trust mission, vision,values, and strategic priorities.
The incumbent will collaborate with the internal teams, including programs, to address key community challenges in the Maasai Mara landscape, and assure quality of programme implementation, and achieve evidence-based outcomes and impact.
The position will be based at The Maa Trust’s HQ in the Maasai Mara, NarokCounty. Key roles and responsibilities:
Data Collection & Management a) Assist in updating data collection tools and templates (e.g., Excel-based trackers, KoboToolbox).Support field data collection (surveys, FGDs, KIIs) using digital tools (e.g., KoBoToolbox).
